Work Permits
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
By federal law and State Ed. Code 49164: All students under age 18 must have a valid work permit to be employed (including vacations and summer break). Applications are available in the office. Permits are only issued to students with a 2.0 GPA or better and who meet attendance requirements. Work permits can be revoked if a student falls below a 2.0 GPA or establishes a negative attendance and/or discipline record.
PROCESS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR
- Download the Work Permit Application or pick one up at the LHS Office
- Complete the "Minor's Information" and "School Information" sections
- Obtain Parent/Legal Guardian's signature
- Give the filled-out form to the employer to fill out the "Employer Information" section
- Submit your completed application to Mrs. Vadgama in the College and Career Center (Room 15).
- Complete the Work Permit Quiz before you pick up your permit
- Please allow one business day for processing.
PROCESS DURING THE SUMMER
- Download the Work Permit Application or pick one up at the LHS Office
- Complete the "Minor's Information" and "School Information" sections
- Obtain Parent/Legal Guardian's signature
- Give the filled-out form to the employer to fill out the "Employer Information" section
- Submit your completed application to the District Office at 600 6th Street, Suite 400.
- Please allow one business day for processing.
